Build and Kill Zombies Skills Guide — Luck, Gold Roll & Nodes
Build and Kill Zombies skill tree guide: every documented node with costs — Luck II +20% for 250, Luck III +25% for 625, Gold Roll and support slots — and the order to buy them.
This Build and Kill Zombies skills guide covers the SKILLS menu — the permanent upgrade tree that makes every future run and roll cheaper. Skills are the compounding layer of the game: parts wear out and get replaced, but a Luck node keeps improving every roll for the rest of your save.
Every Documented Skill Node
Nodes confirmed on footage so far, with their costs as displayed:
| Skill | Effect | Cost | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Luck I | +10% Luck | 75 | Skill tree read on footage |
| Luck II | +20% Luck | 250 | Skill tree read on footage |
| Luck III | +25% Luck | 625 | Skill tree read on footage |
| Super Luck III | +275% Luck | 12,500 | Skill tree tooltip + purchase popup on footage |
| Unlock Gold Roll | Enables gold rolls | (to be verified) | Skill tree read on footage |
| Gold Roll I | Random gold item | 1,200 (1.20K) | Skill tree read on footage |
| Rainbow Roll II | Rainbow roll each 40 rolls | 3,550 (3.55K) | Skill tree tooltip on footage |
| More Support I | 2 total support slots | 300 | Skill tree read on footage |
| More Support II | Extra support slot | 3,700 (3.70K) | Skill tree read on footage |
The tree runs deeper than any single session has read — the Luck chain alone continues from Luck I (+10%, 75) through Luck II (+20%, 250), Luck III (+25%, 625) and a Super Luck III tier at +275% for 12,500, with a Rainbow Roll II node adding a rainbow roll every 40 pulls. Locked branches stay "(to be verified)" here rather than guessed; this table grows as footage reads them.
What Luck Actually Does
Luck is the game's roll-quality multiplier. Every part in the game comes from a roll machine with published odds — engines from 1 in 3 to 1 in 12,500, supports like the Flamethrower at 1 in 9 — and Luck shifts those pulls toward the rarer end. Stacking Luck II (+20%) and Luck III (+25%) means every CAR PARTS and SUPPORTS roll for the rest of the save is quietly better, which compounds across the hundreds of rolls a late-game garage represents.
The in-game implication is why this guide ranks Luck first: a weapon part makes one car better, but a Luck node makes every future roll — across every category — better. Gold rolls extend the same idea to quality: after Unlock Gold Roll, a "Gold Roll!" popup delivers a higher-tier item, and Gold Roll I adds a random gold item on top.

The Purchase Order That Works
Based on the documented costs, a safe order for the first several thousand cash:
- Luck II (250) — the cheapest permanent multiplier in the game; buy it after your first run or two.
- Luck III (625) — the same logic one tier deeper; still cheaper than most weapon parts.
- Unlock Gold Roll → Gold Roll I (1,200) — once rolls are frequent, quality floor starts to matter.
- More Support II (3,700) — only valuable once you actually own two supports worth mounting; before that it is capacity with nothing to fill it.
Cash for all of this comes from runs (distance and kills) and the working codes on the codes page — the COMMUNITY code's 1,000 Cash alone nearly covers Luck II and most of Luck III.
Skills FAQ
What is the best skill to buy first in Build and Kill Zombies?
Luck II at 250 cash — it is the cheapest node and improves every future roll across all categories. The full order this guide recommends: Luck II → Luck III → Gold Roll nodes → support slots.
What does Luck do to rolls?
Luck shifts roll results toward the rarer end of each category's published ladder — the odds the in-game INDEX displays. It does not change which parts exist, only how fast you reach the good ones.
What is a Gold Roll?
A gold roll is a bonus-quality roll result — the game pops a "Gold Roll!" banner when it happens. The Unlock Gold Roll node enables the mechanic and Gold Roll I (1,200) adds a random gold item; both were read from the skill tree on footage.
Are skills reset when the game updates?
No reset has been announced or observed. Skill purchases are permanent save upgrades; game updates add content on top (see the update log).
