Build and Kill Zombies Waves Guide โ€” Surviving Deeper Runs

Build and Kill Zombies waves explained: how zombie waves damage your car, how distance and checkpoints pay out, and the build choices that carry runs deeper.

Last verified: 2026-09-24Priority: P0Source-tagged facts below

This Build and Kill Zombies waves guide covers the driving half of the game: what the zombie waves actually do to your car, how distance converts into cash, and which build choices carry runs deeper. One honesty note up front โ€” the exact wave numbering and zombie stat blocks are "(to be verified)" until they can be read on camera; everything below is confirmed mechanics.

What the Waves Do

The game's own pitch is "crush waves of zombies" โ€” during a run, zombie clusters spawn ahead of the car and the drive is about hitting through them while keeping the vehicle intact. Damage is physical: contact with the horde wears on the build, which is why front-mounted supports exist. A car with no weapon support simply bleeds structure through the early clusters, while even a cheap Wooden Spike at 1 in 3 odds pays for itself by clearing the first groups.

Distance, Checkpoints and Payouts

A run is scored by two confirmed taps โ€” distance and kills โ€” both converting into cash when the run ends. A Distance counter climbs as you push, with checkpoint markers ticking past as progress anchors. The practical reading: distance rewards a car that keeps moving, kills reward a car that keeps hitting, and the best builds stack both.

Two run-enders to respect:

  • Fuel โ€” a dry tank ends the push wherever it happens to be, so fuel capacity is effectively run length. Fuel Barrel stacks and code-reward tanks are income parts, not flavor.
  • Out of bounds โ€” leaving the play area triggers an "Out of bounds! Return to the Battle Field!" warning instead of a payout. The battlefield edge is a hard ceiling on greedy runs.

What Carries a Run Deeper

Confirmed levers, in the order most players feel them:

  1. Fuel capacity โ€” the run timer. Every extra tank segment is more distance banked per run.
  2. A working front support โ€” Wooden Spike early, Flamethrower (1 in 9, $10,000 value) when the rolls cooperate. Supports multiply the value of every metre driven.
  3. Speed and weight balance โ€” engines set top speed and acceleration; wheels change grip and weight. Faster cars bank distance quicker but need the structure to survive the same contact.
  4. Boss timing โ€” a world sign reads "NEXT BOSS IN:" with a live countdown, and boss encounters swap the normal drive for a BOSS FIGHT health bar. Plan fuel around the window (see the boss guide).

What Is Not Confirmed Yet

Deliberately absent from this page until footage confirms it: total wave count, per-wave zombie stat blocks, any night-specific defense mechanic, and wave-scaled payout tables. The in-game INDEX documents parts and odds but not wave data, and no tracker we cross-check publishes confirmed wave numbers. When a patch adds readable wave data, this section updates โ€” track changes on the update log.

Waves FAQ

How do I survive longer in Build and Kill Zombies?

Fuel first, then a front support. A dry tank ends a run at any structure level, and unarmed cars bleed structure through every cluster. After those two, Luck skills make every future upgrade cheaper (see the skills guide).

Do kills pay more than distance?

Both pay โ€” distance and kills are the two confirmed cash taps on a run. Builds that keep moving AND keep hitting earn from both; a fast unarmed car banks distance but bleeds structure, while a slow armed car survives longer than it drives.

Is there a night defense mode?

Not confirmed. The September build's what's-new panel lists Turbo events, Lucky Blocks, the Scooter vehicle and the Cursed Katana weapon โ€” no night mechanic appears in any source we cross-check. Treat any "night defense" claim as "(to be verified)".

What happens when the boss timer hits zero?

A BOSS FIGHT health bar replaces the ordinary drive for the encounter window โ€” the countdown sign makes the timing public so you can bank a safe run before it hits. Details in the boss guide.
